Bio
Blackout Beach is the solo vehicle for Carey Mercer, the head howler and songwriter for the criminally under-appreciated Frog Eyes. Like his work with Frog Eyes, these Blackout Beach songs are intense, miniature epics filled with decadent imagery and undeniable tension. Some might fence Mercer into the 'new weird folk' movement, but his songs are filled with more conviction, abstraction, agitation and true sonic experimentation than all of those others combined. A fourteen-part song cycle, Light Flows The Putrid Dawn finds Mercer in rare form; imagine Don Van Vliet's version of The Marble Index and you're traveling down the right path.
